The Origins of Spring Step
Spring Step was officially founded in 1991 in New York City by twin brothers David and Avi Ben Zikry after a lifetime of work in their father’s shoe store/factory, and a rough start to their own after moving to the US. The two dropped out of school at the age of 16, moved to American from Israel, and decided to bring European footwear with them.
Who Makes Spring Step Shoes?
The co-founders, David and Avi, originally manufactured the shoes themselves to sell in their first store, and local flea markets. The business eventually grew from a flea-market business to one that sold over 1 million pairs worldwide. Thanks to such growth, the business was able to develop relations with factories in Europe to assist with the ever-growing demand.

Spring Step Shoes are made in factories across Europe. Specifically in Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Each shoe is hand crafted from genuine leather and rubber soles, and hand painted by Spring Step artists for maximum quality.
