The side zipper creates on/off ease and the inside is lined with a soft microfiber for comfort. For shock absorption and support, the Sharnell has a leather covered and cushioned footbed. I LOVE these boots! As a new attorney in a rural area where it snows, I had been looking all over for warm, waterproof footwear that was dressy enough for the courtroom and would not break the bank. These are perfect. They keep my feet dry, have good traction, and the whiskey-colored leather is soft and beautiful. As for the fit, they are true to size, and the adjustable calf makes it very easy to fine-tune the width. Some have mentioned the calf being too narrow. Keep in mind the leather stretches fairly readily so if they are only somewhat tight, they will loosen up. The same is true of the forefoot. The toe box is maybe just slightly on the narrow side but the leather breaks in readily. Overall, this is an exceptional boot, and I was not expecting this quality of leather at this price point. 100% recommend.
I love these boots and after doing some research found Dodds had the best price on them. I ordered my usual size, 8.5, since reviews said they generally ran true to size. However, after delivery I tried them on and needed to size up to a 9. The return process was simple and quick and my new size 9 boots arrived less than a week later. I am thrilled with them (I did order an arch support as I have flat feet)--they are beautiful, soft, and high quality. I would highly recommend purchasing from Dodds.
Loved the look and feel of this boot however, the sizing is off! They run a half size short. Disappointedly, no option for the half sizes. My order took unusually long from this store (maybe due to season). Another disappointment, the heading on their web site states, "FREE Shipping
