Naot started in a one room workshop in the Israeli kibbutz (a communal living situation unique to Israel) of Neot Mordechai in 1942. Today, the Naot factory is located in a small farming community at the northernmost part of Israel.

How are Naot shoes made? Naot prides themselves on handcrafting every single pair of shoes just like they did when they first started. Naot has over 200 employees and subcontracts Palestinians professionals at their own sewing factories to ensure the best of the best are crafting their shoes.
Naot Footbed Features:
All Naot shoes are made with Naot’s comfort footbed. The footbed is constructed with a high-quality blend of cork and latex allowing for flexibility, shock absorption and long-term durability.
Hallux Support: This is a support feature under the big toe which prevents the foot from slipping forward and improves the foot’s hold on the shoe.
Elevated Footbed Center: The center of the footbed is elevated to release pressure in the joints the foot.
Arch Support: Naot is known for being supportive and having comfortable and reliable arch support.
Deep Heel Indentation: While this may not seem as important as arch support, having a deep heel indent can help the foot maintain its natural heel pad shape. This helps with balance and helps to protect the heel bone.
Latex Sponge Layer: This layer at the base of Naot shoes creates more padding and comfort with every step.
What size of Naot shoes do I need? Naot shoes are European (EU) sizes. While it can be difficult to determine the correct size because every foot is different, a good tip for size determination is to add 31 to women’s size and 33 to men’s size. So, if you are a women’s size 9 you would be an EU size 40 (31+9), or a men’s size 8 you would be a size 41 (33+8). There is also a sizing conversion chart to help on our customer service page.
Does Naot footwear need to be waterproofed? All Naot footwear leather, nubuck and suede materials are treated for stain and water protectant during construction. With that being said, no waterproofing is permanent. Therefore, you should treat your new Naot shoes with a water proofing spray to help them last as long as possible.
How do I care for my Naot footwear? Because Naot shoes are made from leather, nubuck, and suede, there are a few ways to keep your shoes in tip-top shape. For all of Naot’s shoe types, a soft brush should be used to wipe off any daily dust and debris. Afterwards, for leather shoes, a leather cream should be applied to keep the shoes shiny and looking like new. For nubuck and suede footwear, a protective spray should be used to protect the materials.
